My brother Christian visited with his wife Daniela and children Samuel, Sara, and Sonia. Timothy and Clara loved having their cousins around! Thanks to Christian and Daniela for the photographs! |

Today is Timothy's first day of pre-school; he took the bus to school, which he was very excited about. Dawn was beautiful and serene. Addendum. In the days immediately following the 11th, I berated myself for having been doing something so trivial and mundane as posting pictures to the web, unaware of the disaster that was unfolding in New York and Washington. Upon further reflection, however, these pictures show things that are the birthrights of man: peace, reflection, caring for the young. We must work to make sure that these are not taken from anyone: American, Israeli, Afghan, Christian, Jew, or Muslim. |

We went to Storyland in Glen, N.H., for a much-needed day of R & R. As we set off, we caught sight of some wild turkeys just down the road from our house. The carousel is an antique German carousel. The horses don't go up and down; rather, you rock them forward and back yourself. It's also very unusual for this country, in that it spins clockwise rather than widershins. The photos that seem to show Timothy acting in a play really do show Timothy acting in a play. They take volunteer children from the audience to be logs, squirrels, mice, and so on as the play progresses. Usually there are three grown-ups acting out all the main parts; today, however, two were out -- so the one grown-up and her 12-year-old son ran the whole show. He was great! The audience was small, so Timothy got to play both a log and a mouse. |

Timothy gets into his brand-new bed. I have fond memories of having a bed with a headboard that held my books and I was thrilled to find something similar for Timothy. |
